DAY 12
Megosztás
I'm not going to keep you guessing any longer, I'm much further along with my training than this blog suggests. I'm 7 days behind, partly so that if I fall behind with posting or don't have time to write, the blog can still be continuous. And that time has arrived, sooner than I thought, but it's here.
The thing is, I wake up at 7 in the morning and get home at 8-9 in the evening on a good day, if I don't have plans to meet up with friends or girls, so I barely have any energy left for anything. Plus, I have the memory of a wonderfully successful laundry session where the hose came off, flooding the entire bathroom. That would be the smaller problem, but the water also spilled into the hallway, where there's parquet flooring. The whole thing got soaked, buckled, everything's rotting, so they're coming tomorrow to rip it up, and then we'll have to lay down tiles. Awesome, right? Let's go in chronological order...
Day 10 was the repeated chest-biceps day. The workout didn't hold much good for me, at least that's what I thought. I was afraid of the double strain because my chest was pumped from yesterday's workout. So I started the day with double effort, conscious of the fact that even though yesterday didn't go as planned, it's okay, I'm continuing. The workout went well, so well that I think I'll increase all weights by one next week. You can tell when you've outgrown a weight if you can still complete the last part of a set without assistance; then it's time to level up. If you don't, you won't progress; your muscles will adapt to a certain load and start to stagnate.
I felt exceptionally good during the workout; by the end of the bicep exercises, I felt I had pushed myself hard. Yesterday and today together turned out pretty intense. After the gym, I went to Ákos's place, and by the time I got there, all my upper body muscles were shaking, I was so tired I could barely bring myself to leave. I almost slept on the gallery, no joke. I can't describe this feeling; anyone who has worked out knows what I'm talking about. The muscle gets such a load that it drains almost all energy from the body. Incidentally, this is what you should aim for every day. I had no trouble sleeping; I just fell into bed in my clothes, not lay, but fell. The movie "Single White Female" was still playing in the background, but if you killed me, I couldn't tell you who the main character was.
Day 11
So, it started like a bad house party. It would have been better if I'd woken up naked, next to a girl whose name I didn't even know, with a headache. But no, this was a fully clothed awakening. I wouldn't swear to it, but maybe even my shoes were still on. Despite, or perhaps because of this, I woke up rested but subdued. I've been on this diet and workout regimen for 11 days now, and it's nice to reflect on that sometimes. Even after a shower, I still feel very dull. There are days like this when nothing can cheer you up. I have a ton of errands today too, but I don't care, I see no sign of fire within me. I hate this feeling, because usually, at times like this, I'm prone to falling into depression.
This happened today too; I absolutely didn't look forward to the workout, and I thought this whole program was pointless, but it never crossed my mind to quit or give up. It was more of a "I'll do it, okay, but I don't see much point" feeling. The boss is an idiot, it's raining, all the girls are idiots, Telenor can just go screw itself, and anyway, everyone can go screw themselves. With these feelings, I got through the day until the workout. Nothing changed during the day, except perhaps that a taxi splashed me in front of the Allee shopping center, so if you see a white Passat with license plate 514, please slash its tires.
I didn't feel like doing much, but most of all, I didn't feel like rowing 2 km on a machine. No choice, it has to be done. I managed to warm up with perfect enervation. One exercise followed another, I only focused on doing the exercises with correct technique, observing rest periods, nothing else mattered. I didn't look at the girls on the stair machine, or while doing abs, even though women can find some really cool poses there. Towards the end of the workout, I felt pretty good, but this is the first time I feel mentally exhausted. At times like these, it's best to just go with the flow and hope it passes. If it doesn't pass within a few days, then I'll have to consciously get back on track, which sucks because then this dejection won't leave on its own, meaning it will stay with me.
Lombardi's words constantly echo in my head, "The true glory is to be brought to your knees and to rise again." It's a shame that in the world of sports, such glory for me only means overcoming a mental low point in the gym. Well, that's pretty much how my day went. But the real excitement was yet to come, as Alekinho challenged Zsófi, who at 19 had already reached commendable heights in the category of sneaky little bitch. With that, I'll close out today, and also with the news that a cold front is expected for the weekend. The day really can't get any worse than this. (The Night Noise boys have been released. Thank you.)
Day 12
Following my Faustian mood yesterday, I woke up in a surprisingly good, almost energetic mood. I never understood how such a big change could happen with 6-8 hours of sleep. Now I understand why vampires are so damn sad. Today is a running day, and it's good to remind myself of the vow I made last Saturday in Hűvösvölgyi Park. For accuracy's sake, I'll even look it up.
"The funny thing is, if I hadn't shown off on the uphill run, we could have easily done 7-8 laps, which somewhat reevaluated the Margaret Island loop for mountain running. It was here that I decided that on my next run, I would run a distance on a flat section that I had never run before."
Here we are. The day arrived, and I was contemplating the right distance. The longest distance I've run so far is 5.8-5.9 km. The distance is set, and I need to surpass it. I prepared for this all day; physically, I feel good, even better. But the real motivation was the quote above. I left home around 6 PM, and I had my distance. From Oktogon, all along the boulevard to the island, and then one loop around. There's no need to overthink it; you just have to start, so I started Runkeeper in front of Subway and began running. Aradi–Podmaniczky–Nyugati Pu. It inclines from Jászai up to the island entrance. I'm not saying it felt good, but that's how it is. But someone tell me one thing: why the hell do people have to walk side-by-side on the already narrowed bridge? And then, stupidly, not understand why I'm pushing them, or why the cyclist is hitting the arm of the idiot. On the bridge, while renovations are ongoing, WE DO NOT WALK SIDE-BY-SIDE. This applies doubly to couples. You can survive those 50 meters without holding hands, or if not, then expect a trip and curses.
I enter the island, go down to the shore, but it all feels strange, somehow the island is different. At first, I don't understand why, then I realize when I step into a hollow – there's no public lighting. So, I would take this opportunity to wish Csaba Baji, CEO of MVM, and the entire management good health and a pleasant run with open mouths in the penis forest. But what do I expect from a district where, even after the orange tsunami of 2010, the district leadership is still socialist.
So I'm running in pitch darkness, which wouldn't be a problem, but the running track is crossed in places by pathways where posts have been stuck into the ground, which isn't so funny to run into, especially since the ends of the poles reach right to my balls. Minimal light filters in from the Pest side; I can still make out the contours, but for example, I know I just ran past the zoo because it smelled terribly. By the time I reach the island turn, almost at Hajógyári Island, I've already run 4.5 km. I feel no signs of fatigue; I feel very good. At Palatinus, I feel like I could not only run the island loop but maybe even further. 7 km at Margaret Bridge. I push it at the finish line, and here a pretty cool scene took place, as two police officers were patrolling at the finish line. Just before I reached them, I reached into my pocket for my phone, but I was still running, and the two police officers turned around, wondering why the hell I would reach into my pocket in the pitch dark, just as I reached them. Described like this, it's nothing special, but there, I just burst out laughing at their faces. 7.28 km is the new record, it was a brutally good run. I could have run more, I don't know how much, I don't want to write nonsense, but maybe even 10 km would have been possible. I wasn't tired at all.
I was a bit overstimulated, completely invigorated that the workout had such a good effect on me. From now on, I plan longer runs and will always take different routes. I guess I'll discover the city while running. Now, what came in the evening, I was not prepared for. I was so full of energy that I couldn't fall asleep, even though I watched two Fringe episodes to try and fall asleep. I could lie on the floor, on the bed any way, I couldn't fall asleep, but not only couldn't I fall asleep, but I even felt like my legs were moving, and at 2 AM I could have run around the City Park. At least that's what I felt. It was Friday evening, so maybe that was the problem. Dave was whoring in Bratislava or some successor state, I never know where he is. Ákos worked his ass off this week, Gabriel is still licking his wounds, I don't even know which country Ádi is in right now, Greguss lives with a woman, which means I'll bring him a bouquet of flowers for the grave of his masculinity. And the others? Well, yes, I'll have to think about that. I fell asleep around 6 AM, and by 10 AM I was already in Gödöllő. But that's the music of day 13.
Edina, this is all I can recommend.
