Energy Vampires

Negative people are everywhere, and like a fatal disease, they will eventually consume you if you don't sweep them out of your life.

An energy vampire can be an annoying neighbor, an acquaintance who clings to you and uses you as their emotional trash can, a long-lost friend coming out of a relationship, but most often it's simply a bitter person who couldn't achieve their dreams, gave up on their plans long ago, and will do everything to drag you back into the swamp from which they could never escape. Energy vampires are happy when others are miserable. The failures of others are their successes, validating that they too have failed, so they're not such a waste. They can't stand the successes of others because every positive example they see confronts them with their own weaknesses, which they cannot bear, so they belittle and trivialize these achievements. Energy vampires are fundamentally evil people, embittered by poisons that accumulated within them due to their failures, disappointments, and lack of success. Energy vampires always stand still, never moving, at most downwards, but never upwards. If we pass them, they try to stop us; if we are falling, they await us with open arms and joy, then push us even lower by stepping on us.

Consciously, but mostly subconsciously, they create situations where they draw on your life force. They need this because their strength either never existed or has significantly diminished. They are full of negative emotions, mean, petty, or simply genetically not predestined for a successful life, and they are aware of this, which makes them even angrier. A large part of their energy is consumed by building a non-existent world they created for themselves and maintaining this facade, primarily for themselves, just so they don't have to face the reality that they are incapable of achieving anything in life. They lie to themselves about a world and create their own community, which, of course, contains the same life-failed good-for-nothings as themselves, but this makes it easier for them to survive because even a human wreck seems alive when walking in a cemetery.

These people struggle with many problems, but instead of looking within themselves, they blame the world for all their troubles, where someone else is always at fault, there is always a higher power they can blame. They are incapable of acting alone, always seeing saviors in others. They keep these people close, and by seeing them suffer, they feel temporarily energized because they need to see that it's not just them who are miserable, others are suffering too, and this fills their dark souls with a sense of relief. Energy vampires are devils cast out of hell, slowly poisoning, and behind their smiles, there is always anger, doubt, and ill will…

Everyone has a friend who, when they meet, always radiates optimism and strength, and when you are with them, you also see the world as more beautiful and start making plans for the future. Energy vampires are their exact opposite. When you talk to them, you feel emptiness and fatigue, becoming gloomy and irritable after the encounter. It can often happen in old friendships that the other person becomes a burden after a while, and even in a relationship that started as a fiery love, you can feel your partner suffocating you with their problems. Of course, not every friend in need or going through a rough patch is manipulative or an energy drain, but it's wise to be careful with those for whom this is a constant characteristic. These scum are easily recognizable, by the way. No matter what you say, be it negative or positive, they always exaggerate. If you talk about an achievement, it's nothing compared to theirs, and their breakup hurts more and longer, because, you know, their relationship was different from the average, and by the way, they lost a stable source of energy. Negative people are full of inferiority complexes, which usually stem from the fact that…

1. if they are male and short, it's for that reason; if female and tall, it's for that reason.

2. they are simply a defective person

3. ugly and/or fat

4. in a worse social situation than they classify themselves, but they either lack the strength or the chance to do anything about it

They try to alleviate these complexes by forcing others to their level. When they talk about themselves, they constantly appear in the role of a martyr and a sufferer. They are the ones always under the pigeon poop, or whose garden is being peed on, but every single failure is, of course, due to others. They are never satisfied with anything; next to the word pessimism in the dictionary, you'll probably find their battered face. Out of tact, you don't dare to say good things in their presence; instead, you also dig up relevant, empathetic stories that make you sad, and with that, your decline has begun.

Everyone knows those people who, after 5 minutes of acquaintance, have already told their whole life story, from their parents' frustrating marriage to their workplace problems, and the depiction of their burnt-out negative life. The best example of this is homeless people who seize every opportunity to pour out their misery on you if you accidentally strike up a conversation with them. The more you learn about a person within a given time, the more certain you can be that they should have been pushed under a train a long time ago.

Such people are conspicuously cordial and kind until they figure out what purposes they can use you for. During supposedly honest conversations, they search for your weak points, and when you are being discussed in company or at a workplace lunch, they stab you in the back so everyone laughs at you or whispers behind your back, then, of course, they apologize like hell, saying they didn't mean it, and it's a joke, and it's not true that you don't get it. This type of asshole only talks to you when you're alone, but if there are others in the company whose friendship they consider more advantageous, they won't give a damn about you. They constantly joke, draw attention to themselves, and find joy in being able to tell as many people as possible that they know them, and how great buddies they are with shared experiences, but of course, this is not true.

I guess some of you recognized yourselves now, but that's okay; it's good to be aware that in my eyes, your worth is lower than a milk carton at a scrap yard. Avoid such people for your own good. Sweep these life wrecks out of your life, no matter how long you've known them, or if a shared past or childhood connects you, because people change, and by far not everyone for the better. It doesn't matter where you categorize yourself in life, because what counts is how you live, how you've lived for years. Everything around you defines you and holds up a mirror to you. The quality of your environment and the people around you is the clearest mirror you should sometimes look into, because it doesn't hurt to sometimes see yourself as you really are, and not as you've been pretending to be for years.
