breathing therapy

Often, we don't get to decide when we become agitated. We don't sit down for coffee in the morning and think, okay, between ten and eleven-thirty this morning I'm going to be fucking anxious, then I'll overthink my life a bit, followed by a little self-pity around lunch, then a great big sulk, but only until 4 o'clock because after that I'll be inexplicably enthusiastic, only to have no desire for anything by 7 in the evening. Feelings just come and happen. Our bodies react, our brains tune in, and by the time we realize it, we're already caught in an emotional process and there's nothing we can do. The first level is trying to change exactly this.
