DAY 3
Megosztás
The blog got a little off track. I apologize to everyone, but I simply couldn't write about anything else yesterday.
I'll tell you a story that might help you understand why the events affected me so deeply, and why I had so much anger and emotion. And then I'll close this topic.
The following scene took place on New Year's Eve. Ironically, it happened right at Nyugati railway station. I had a meeting arranged with two friends. At 10:00 PM at Nyugati, in front of the non-stop shop. The two birds were obviously late, so I had time to look around. I watched the girls in mini-skirts in -10 degrees, the crazy faces, and the indescribable characters taking advantage of the total chaos, aiming their fireworks at the windows of the yellow Raiffeisen building.
Everything was fine, and then I saw two very pretty young girls, in skirts, without coats, in just short-sleeved tops. They couldn't have been more than 17-18 years old. As I watched them, it wasn't "oooooh damn, what hot girls" that popped into my mind, but "they don't have coats, and they're going to catch a cold!!!" I didn't understand what was going on, then it hit me. My paternal instincts simply kicked in. The worry that they would catch a cold and that nothing bad would happen to them. Two years ago (last week), I would have just gone up to them and acted all cool, but not now. For the first time in my life, I felt this father-thing, this caring, so strongly. At 28 years old. Well, yes, I didn't expect that.
My two buddies arrived, and I forgot all about it. Until I saw the news that three girls died in West Balkan. Damn. The feeling immediately came back. I felt the same way as on New Year's Eve. At this point, I was just shocked, and then when the first reports started coming in, and then I saw this picture, well, for crying out loud, that was intense. I became angry and desperate. It must have been 2-3 AM at this time, and most likely their parents didn't even know about the incident yet. I wouldn't have thought I had such feelings, but I felt a cruel paternal rage. That's it. I don't have children, of course, but if I do, I will certainly be devastated if anything happens to them.
The main focus will continue to be my 64-day training program, which I will report on daily and provide all necessary assistance for. But if something happens that stirs my thoughts, I will write about it.
Day 3…
Shhh, shhh, little punk. With a backhand. With a backhand, damn it, don't you get it?
As Santiago Segura also alludes to, technique is paramount. Today I started my running training. Many people don't know this, but if you run with proper technique, you can achieve a 18-20% increase in distance and about a 30% increase in calorie burning. Before we go through the 9 points of running, I would like to highlight the most important one. NEVER LEAN FORWARD.
Correct running technique
The force of the arm movement should be directly proportional to the force of the leg, so your arm should follow the speed of your leg.
Proper posture. Try to run with a straight back (do you have your gym back exercises?). The more you lean forward, the harder it will be for you to take in oxygen.
Speed kills endurance, endurance kills speed. Do not vary your training intensity, because neither will work. If you're building muscle, do speed running; if you want to lose weight, do endurance running.
Stretch before training. After running, wait a few minutes until your body calms down and your blood pressure normalizes.
Breathe in through your nose, out through your mouth. For weeks it's impossible not to breathe through your mouth, but strive for the nose-in, mouth-out method.
Land on the front third of your foot, not your heel.
Elbows at 90 degrees, arms slightly crossed in front of the chest.
Don't strain yourself, stay relaxed.
Do not eat anything 1 hour before running.
+1 Buy good running shoes. This is fundamental. Don't skimp on this, so no cheap Chinese crap, or Wink, or whatever other rubbish there is. If you still have 8 minutes, here's an illustrative video (from 1:45 onwards). The world's best training aid program is Runkeeper. Downloadable for Android here and for iPhone from iTunes here. Use it.
A few words about the day. I slept badly, that's for sure. I woke up several times during the night and found it hard to fall back asleep. Yet, I don't feel like I'm not rested. My metabolism has noticeably sped up, I can almost feel my body switching to a different rhythm. The point is approaching where my body no longer controls my brain, stimulating the hunger center, but I control and regulate it. At this time, the body begins to learn that it receives far fewer calories, but much more regularly, than in our unhealthy lives. The acceleration of metabolism and the fat breakdown process, together with the workouts, will only really start to pick up now. Soon it will be time to take out the old jeans from the corner. Leave the mini-skirts in the closet for now, no need to go overboard. We'll come back to this in 3 weeks.
I was a little scared of running, as I can't even estimate what kind of shape I might be in. I haven't run for months. Since November, it has been almost impossible due to the continuous sub-zero temperatures. It's impossible to run in -8, -14 degrees. I tried, but after about 200 meters, I gave up; it's not even healthy, and everyone should forget about treadmills. Run up to -5 degrees, below that, stay home and play Xbox.
The run went surprisingly well, without any major low points, although there was a slight dip around the 4th km. A triathlon team was also training, they passed me so fast I thought they were coming from the front. As for the numbers. I started running from in front of the Rossmann at Jászai Mari Square, formerly Rotschild (beautiful Hungarian shops), across the bridge, down the stairs, opposite the gyro place, and then around the island. According to Runkeeper, I covered 5.86 km in 36.50 minutes, burning 487 calories. I am convinced that this result is the saddest thing that has happened to me in the last few months, even though I had a date in November where I found myself paying my internet bill at T-Mobile.
I would like to point out that I had to run for 37 minutes to burn off a double cheeseburger from Burger King. A Whopper sandwich is 611 kcal, the same in a menu is 1071 kcal. But more on that later, in a separate, longer post. Tomorrow will be a shoulder and triceps gym day. Tomorrow can't start badly, because instead of today's rye bread + two slices of turkey breast ham, tomorrow I can indulge in four!!! slices.
It'll feel about as good…
