DAY 30

A lot has happened to me in the past few days, but now I will only talk about my workouts, because this week I decided to update my software and find my limits, wherever they may be.

In Hungarian, it means I'm going to push myself to the limit to find out how much I can actually handle, where my boundaries are now.

The last time I wrote about day 28, and I left off saying that I had my chest-biceps day, I was bursting with energy, and I couldn't do anything with it anymore because I could barely sleep, my body was still buzzing even in the evening. I want to state again, and if I have to, a hundred times, that I am not taking any synthetic substances, creatine, or stimulants, so I don't feel this excess energy from them. I don't even drink energy drinks, and the highest dose of caffeine I've had in 31 days was Pepsi Light.

Day 29

The story starts at 5 PM when Dave and Ákos called me to go to Arena Plaza to hang out. Okay, I need to eat anyway, I'll hang out with them for 2 hours, I'll be at the gym by 8, and at 10 I'll annoy the receptionists by still showering 5 minutes after closing. So everything was perfectly planned. Apropos Arena Plaza, I will dedicate a separate, more extensive post to Budapest restaurants, and within that, the 6 largest shopping centers, on what and where to eat in the city if you're on a diet. In advance, what goes for restaurants and dining in the Arena is frankly desperate and deeply humiliating. Dave was obviously running around with a Burger King flyer in his hand, that's basic. Ákos, who actually has some idea about healthy living, bought a greasy chicken and mushroom monstrosity, but the cabaret is that in that place (12,000 square meters) this was one of the most diet-friendly meals. And what about me? Nothing, for example, I'm damn hungry right now. Well, at Vita Juice Bar I bought a 4 dl grapefruit-apple-pineapple combo fruit juice. It was inhumanly awful, bitter as a 50-year-old, celibate math-physics teacher (I mean the fruit juice, looooool), and a fruit plate. But that's not enough, since I'm going to work out, so I needed to eat something else. I'm not kidding, you can't eat diet-friendly in the Arena. I couldn't believe it. At Guru, they have salad and chicken without pancakes, but we're banned from there. Let's just say that where more than three girls work in one place, one of them will eventually leave with me. I bought bean sprouts at the Chinese place, where they didn't even have plain rice (you get it, in a Chinese restaurant!), so I had to go to the stew bar across the street, where they even deep-fry oranges. I asked for a portion of rice, and I saw on the girl's face that she didn't understand the order.

The point is, we wasted time, as usual, got annoyed with women, and I realized it would be 8 in 10 minutes. Okay. No gym for me, Ákos and co. went to the cinema, I went home, because I had to work out something. On the way home, I decided to go for a run and reshape this week a bit. Four gym workouts will remain, but I will highlight the 2 hardest days out of the 4 days, i.e., chest-biceps and shoulder-triceps. I will do these two 2x2 times this week, and in addition, I will run 30 km. This is the plan, I have to push myself to the limit, and I think this week will be perfect for that. This is a special week, because next week I will return to my normal training plan, but now I need something like this.

Gym CB (chest-biceps) – running – gym CB – running – gym ST (shoulder-triceps) – running – gym ST.

This is the plan. Behind me is an already weight-increased gym workout, and six more days. At half past eight in the evening, near Keleti railway station, I decided that the time had come for a run in Buda Castle.

The start was at Heroes' Square, and the route was Andrássy Avenue – Chain Bridge, up to the Castle, down the other side, Tabán – Várkert Casino – Chain Bridge – Andrássy Avenue, Heroes' Square. The weather was perfect, I was physically ready, unfortunately there were no excuses, no excuses.

The first 2 km were incredibly hard. I can't figure out what determines how your run will go, because sometimes I don't feel good at all and I run like Cafu in his prime on the left wing, but then there are times when I'm fully motivated, I start, and damn it. Well, this started as a damn run, but around Oktogon, I was fine. There's something competitive about it when you first see the castle, you look at it, and you say to yourself, "I catch you, motherfucker." The bridge incline was good for a warm-up, then the real climb began. The beginning might be around a 3% incline, then it gets serious at the restaurant with 5-6%, but there's a 200-meter section where the steepness is 8-9%. Well, that hit me hard because I was literally playing for survival there. For those who these incline numbers mean nothing, run up to the third floor, multiply it by 15, but do it after you've already run 3.5 km and still have at least 7 more to go.

The end wasn't so bad, I thought I'd take a picture of the city from the side of the castle, then I realized I couldn't breathe. Running downhill feels amazing, you can rest there. I ran under four minutes per km downhill, which means I was literally sprinting. It was quite astonishing to realize that when I started to think I had finally exhausted myself, that was far from the truth. After I got down to Tabán, I still had about 5 km ahead of me. Then, suddenly, I saw Gellért Hill. The only bad thing about this is that I live my life by the rhythm of "see, love, acquire," and this didn't promise much good, because it was then that I realized my next big challenge would be running up Gellért Hill.

10.66 km in 1 hour and 6 minutes, which included a 185-meter climb.

Overall, I'm not tired. I felt the run, I got tired, but I'm nowhere near feeling that limit thing. Tomorrow is again the hardest gym day. We'll see how long I can last.

PS: Ákos and Dave lined up for nachos and popcorn at the cinema, then they remembered me, and driven by guilt, after 2 minutes of intense thinking and deliberation, they headed to the gym empty-handed. I hereby congratulate them on this fantastic achievement, which we call self-control. The Travolta-esque crap by Dave and Ákos' recommendation.

Day 30

I woke up thinking I couldn't stand up. My thigh and leg muscles hurt so much that I hadn't felt anything like it in a very long time. Today is chest-biceps day again, for the second time in 3 days, and this is unpleasant, among other things, because my chest muscles, and especially my biceps, vividly remember the workout from the day before yesterday, in the form of a stubborn little muscle soreness.

So, let's summarize. My legs are done, the upper part of my upper body is OFF, and today I have another chest-biceps workout with increased weights, of course, all this on the thirtieth day, and there will be 4 more such days this week. If I don't break myself down now, I'll look for kryptonite and see what effect it has on me. Last time Tomi got a fever, so our meeting about women's workouts, which will be the basis for the Conscious Nutrition III. special edition for women, we made up for now. It's going to be a really cool material, at least that's how I plan it.

For a change, I chose a short uphill run for my warm-up, because I think I've reached the point where I'm looking for suffering, for the really bad stuff, and after overcoming every such really bad feeling, I'm so damn proud of myself. The workout was interesting. Since I spend a significant amount of time in the gym each week, routines are starting to form, and I feel more at home, plus all the training is having an effect. More and more people are mistaking me for a personal trainer, and I find myself going over to help others more often. Of course, almost without exception, I go to women, but recently, a guy was doing bench presses 1 meter from me in such a way that I couldn't watch it silently anymore. After a little technical assistance and a 5-minute conversation, the guy – who, by the way, was the editor-in-chief of CKM, as I later found out – so the guy asked if I could take him on for a few training sessions, or perhaps help him for the first month, because after the exercise I showed him, he already felt his chest muscles working much better.

HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH. Let's calculate. 4 workouts a week at 4x3000 HUF/session is 16 workouts a month, which is 48,000 forints for one person. Guys, I think I've really messed something up in my life so far. Maybe this 2-month program of mine will offer more than I ever thought possible? It never occurred to me to make money from this, partly because I love and enjoy the workouts and the program itself, and finally something that doesn't make me constantly projectile vomit. Which, by the way, happens to me every weekday morning between 9 AM and 5 PM. I will consider this possibility.A few other interesting things happened, whose news or story value will only be understandable to a narrow audience, but for anyone who spent more than three times on Hajógyári Island between 2005 and 2008, the name Uncle Miki probably means something. We're talking about a rich guy in his 60s who drives a Bentley and regularly screws or propositions girls aged 16-21 after or during parties. Well, this guy showed up at the gym with a girl around 20, with whom I literally couldn't think of anything that didn't involve sex in some form. He brought the girl to pay for personal training, then said two more were coming. Lol. Uncle Miki4president. Multiply that 48,000 by three, but what kind of three, my God... Do you understand now?

The workout had a few more interludes, no significance. I'm starting to feel tired. I went to my friend's place to play Xbox in the evening, but I honestly don't remember what we played because I fell asleep. I'm not kidding.

I managed to get an hour of sleep, and I felt immeasurable joy when three things dawned on me. 1. I'm not home. 2. Tomorrow's a run, and there are still four more training days. 3. I haven't had a girlfriend since the end of December, and I'm waking up at a friend's place on a weekday evening. I don't know how I could go any lower. I mean, I do, but I wouldn't get into a relationship right now.
