A RunTilt Nemzedék

RunTilt Generation

Take a good look at these people because they are awesome and perfectly embody the spirit of LifeTilt. They are the first to join my running workouts, and they are people I don't know, but we enriched each other's lives with a defining experience when we ran that 12 km distance, which, by the way, included a climb up to Buda Castle. I have so much in me right now, this shared run was so damn good that it's very hard to convey what I feel right now, and what the five of us experienced tonight during that 1 hour and 10 minutes. 3 guys, 2 girls, and the city. I don't want to sound like some sentimental faggot here, but it's very rare in life when those bonds form between five strangers, even if only for an hour, which only the community-building power of movement and sport can achieve. We watched out for each other, supported each other, and ran as a team for each other for a common goal. These are not minor things, and in truth, they cannot really be described with words. You have to feel it. You have to be there and experience that kind of freedom that the five of us experienced tonight. This shared run was good, damn good...

This run, by the way, concludes my first week. After the first week, I can once again say about myself what I already felt in January, that these programs involve huge sacrifices and tiring workouts, but LifeTilt, and the fact that I started exercising again, is one of the best things that could have happened to me in the last few years.  Girls, parties, festivals, friends, these are good things too, of course, but this is somehow different, this is completely different, and I want you to experience these experiences too. It's becoming clearer and clearer, by the way, that perhaps educating people about healthy living is my mission on this damn Earth and in this shit-filled country, and the blog is my tool to achieve this with others, and believe me, I will do everything for it.  That's why, in order to expand and popularize RunTilt, I will do everything, sparing no money, time, or energy, so that you too can see all that you cannot even imagine yet, but this world is available to you too, and if it's up to me, you will see it, but you are also needed for this. You don't have to do anything else but get up from your chair and start a program, for which you will receive all the help from the blog and from me, I promise.

Starting is damn hard, I know it well because you've already tried many times, and life in its current form isn't the formula that would help you change your lifestyle.  You're tired, you have no strength when you get home from work, and anyway, after all the failed attempts, you've long lost the desire to start again because there's no motivation, there's no push to get you started, and anyway, why would it work now if it didn't work yesterday. I know the feeling, I know the resolutions that failed in a few days and the big vows that ultimately came to nothing. Just think about New Year's Eve and the resolutions made then. I remember on New Year's Eve 2007, I vowed to quit smoking, not to light up again in 2008. Well, that resolution lasted exactly 17 minutes, but that's how it is with everyday life. I'd like to ask a question. How many of you decided that when summer is over, from September 1st, you will also start some kind of diet, and change your lifestyle, lose weight, and then everything will be different from September. I can see the situation before me, how in mid-July these thoughts were born in your heads, and then you were firmly convinced that you would really start in the fall. And then what happens? Nothing. Nothing happened, but why would it have happened? How is a September 1 or a January 1 different from all the other days? The sun rises the same way, life spins in its squirrel wheel the same way, and the only variable is what the weather is like that day.

I remember at 14 how I waited for my ID card, thinking I would be a different person because I would have a document like adults and damn, everything would be different. Then I got it, we walked out of the 6th district police station and nothing changed, except I had one more piece of paper in my pocket. The same thing happened on my 18th birthday, I waited for college the same way, for my first job, and I waited the same way for every single day that is a defining year or date in a person's life. Nothing ever changed because things and your current lifestyle will not change due to years or dates, and next Monday is not the beginning of a new week, but just another day that will change nothing. Do you know why not? Because change only needs one thing. You, and this change can be on March 17th, June 9th, or November 23rd. The firsts of the month mean nothing, just as Mondays don't, and just as tomorrow the world will be no different than it was today or yesterday. Either you get up and start, or you'll stand still and go nowhere because the earth still spins and every day is a new day, but you're still standing still, and it's very hard to get anywhere that way. Stand up and start. Start, and don't make excuses. Screw the rain, screw how tired you are, don't look for excuses, just change your clothes and go for a run anywhere, any distance, and do it 3 times a week.

From my own example, I know that until you do this, until you stare at the calendar, nothing will change because change doesn't require the passage of time, but for you to be in a different place than you are now. Are you complaining that your life is boring and nothing is happening? Do you always see the same people and always experience the same things day after day? Well, change it, damn it. Do things you haven't done before. Start small, say, take a different route to work than you're used to. It doesn't matter what, just change, and you'll see the world continuously open up before you. The best example of this is my friend Ákos, who for years kept his sister away from me because he was afraid that if I met her, I'd sleep with her and just screw her over like all the other girls. But imagine this: I've known the guy for 8 years and I've met his sister twice, both times under Ákos's strict supervisory gaze, even though I meet Ákos 5 days a week. This year, the guy had a thought and said, meet my sister because she's in a lot of trouble. Write her a program and help her with her workouts. When I heard this, I fell under the table. I wrote a program for the girl, went to train with her 3 times a week, the girl lost 10 kilos, broke up with an impossibly huge asshole, and now she's happy, balanced, and has become a completely different person. Now she's in a happy relationship with a guy she deserves, and she still goes running today. What I did for his sister is the best thing that has happened to her in recent years, and I'm not saying this, Ákos and his mother are. I didn't sleep with her, I didn't hurt her, I just simply gave her a life through sport and the program that she deserves because she's a decent and great person. If you feel bad about yourself and see life as shit, well, damn it, change it.

September 25 is a date that can be suitable for change. It can be suitable, among other things, because this day will not be like the others. Counting from now, you still have 5 days to prepare for this day, and to look at it as the first day of your lifestyle change program. The RunTilt run is what I'm talking about, and this day will be so much more than the others because if you come to Margaret Island, you will start your program with a run during which you will realize how much more you can do than you currently think about yourself. By now, a very cool community has formed around LifeTilt, and what happened to us tonight during the 12 km run is just a slice of it. People who exercise, people who have changed, and who have chosen life.

Every single RunTilt run has more participants, and every run sees personal records broken because the power of the community and shared exercise brings this out in everyone. Experience the atmosphere you can feel at RunTilt among people who are role models in everyday life due to their lifestyle and their attitude to life. You belong here too, but to belong here, you also have to do something for it.

You still have 5 days…

September 25th, Sunday, Margaret Island fountain, 6:00 PM
